Moment Musicale is delighted to meet with young musicians who will be featured as soloists and in ensembles at one of our concerts in 2012-2013 season, Baroque & Classical Evening on September 15th at 7:30 pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Surrey. Entering its 3rd season, Moment Musicale concert series endeavors to entertain its audience as well as to elevate. Its mandate includes a supporting role to encourage young musicians.
Festival date & location: Sat, June 9th from 10 am to 4 pm at Kwantlen Polytechnic University Music Building, Langley Campus (20901 Langley Bypass, Langley, BC. V3A 8G9)

2. By Email: Please fill out the application form in Ms Word or PDF and email to: jinheeparkpro@yahoo.ca Use email money transfer through your online banking system to submit the application fee.
1. Who can Apply? Any music student studying an orchestral instrument or voice or in a chamber ensemble, younger than the age of 26 with a performance level equivalent to grade 7 in RCM or higher is eligible to enter the festival and has a chance to receive an award. Anyone with a performance level lower than grade 7 in RCM, or older than 25, can still apply for an audition experience or for RCM exam preparation. Feedback from the jurors will be given to every applicant who participates in the festival.
2. Can I apply for both solo and ensemble audition? Yes, please ensure to use a separate application form for each category. For the additional solo instrument, use the same application form.
3. Can I apply for more than one ensemble audition? Yes, there is no limit for applying for the ensemble audition. One application form per ensemble is required.
4. How much are the application fees? $25 for solo audition with $10 for each additional solo instrument or voice. $10 per person for ensemble audition (eg. $40 for string quartet). All application fees are non refundable.
5. How do I find out my audition time? Once your application is submitted (before May 18th), you will be scheduled for a 15-20 minute audition & adjudication for June 9th. You will be informed by email or telephone for the exact time frame. It will be in between 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, June 9th.
6. What time do I need to arrive for the audition, and is there a place to warm-up? You need to arrive at least 10 minutes before your audition time to check in. Yes, there will be some practice rooms available to warm-up.
7. Do I need to bring my own piano accompanist to the festival? It is not required to bring a piano accompanist to the festival. A candidate can play either with or without a piano accompanist. However, the preference will be given to the students who can bring their own piano accompanists to the concert.
8. Do I need to memorize the music for the festival? It is not required to memorize the audition piece. You may or may not use your music. Try to bring a copy of your music for the jurors. 9. What are the Awards? There are winning prizes (upto $250) for the students who perform excellently. Eight winners will be selected to perform in the concert as a featuring soloist.
10. What happen if I win the audition? You will be invited to perform as a featuring soloist at the Moment Musicale concert on Sep 15th evening and will be receiving the award.
11. What if I don't win the audition? Runners-up will be still invited to participate in the orchestra at the concert, mentored by professional musicians. Every participant at the festival will receive feedbacks from the jurors.
12. What if I win the audition but unable to perform at the concert on Sep 15th? The purpose of this festival is to select winners who can perform at the concert. So if you cannot perform at the concert after winning the audition, then your award and solo performing opportunity will be given to the next runner-up.
13. When do I find out the result? Students will receive the result via email or phone, within 1 week after the festival.
14. Is it possible to win more than one award? Yes, if you are applying for more than one solo instrument or/and ensemble, there is a possibility to win more than one award.
15. What are the winning criteria? Adjudication will be based on: performanceship, musicality, entertaining, uniqueness/ variety, suitability for the concert.
16. What type of attire is required for the festival? Any semi-formal attire is fine.
